Halloween!!

Liz and I are “Sandy” and “Danny” from Grease this Halloween!

disclaimer:  We don’t smoke cigarettes.  These are fake ones that Liz picked up from Wilsons five and dime.

Motorcycles aren’t for everyone, but they are for me.

We sold our last bike, a 2006 Yamaha Fz6, towards fall time in 2010.  At the time, we hadn’t moved into our new home and I wasn’t riding it very often. I’ve really enjoyed the sportbike side of the world, but I’ve been in love with raw, naked bikes for sometime.  I started reading my first chopper mags back in high school, rode MX bikes since I was a kid, and then started with sportbikes in college.  I’m certainly not prejudice against any type of two wheeled machine.  It occurred to me earlier this year that I would want another bike, but I didn’t want to quite tell my wife just yet.  I quietly searched for multiple types of cafe racers, bobbers, and harleys.  I quickly fell in love with the Buell XB S Lightning series of bikes.  Very hooligan like and not much plastic.  I searched and just as soon as I found one, I decided to pull the trigger.  It wasn’t until my wife and I discussed the bike, that I realized I didn’t want something so refined. She helped me to realize that I wanted something retro, antique and unique.  While searching, I found a bike builder out of Atlanta.  After trailering the Karmann Ghia from Atlanta, I swore I would never go back…and then this past Sunday, I did.

It started life as a 1983 Suzuki GS 750.  The motor is out of an early 90′s model, while the frame was chopped and lowered.  It runs a speedometer and thats it.  No dummy lights. Running a new top end, rings, rods, the works..they all dump into a 4 to 1 aftermarket header.  The bike is EXTREMELY loud.  It makes a Harley sound like a moped. :)

Plans for me will include the motor being polished out or painted, the headers being wrapped in black header wrap, the wheels painted all jet black, and possibly a tan seat and I’ll fab a small rear fender.

Meet Deacon

My parents had a rough time with one of their dogs having an AutoImmune disease.  The dog passed away and left a hole in my family’s heart.  They decided to get another dog to give Otto, their adult dog, another friend.  My sister and mom searched for a long time for this little guy.  He had to meet the certain breed requirements for size and shedding.  Kenzie and Mom drove down to Georgia to pick him up, and they tell me it was worth it. They brought him up to meet me one day and he reminded me of an armadillo.

Meet Deacon.

A little time on the coast

As I’m going through these images for my personal beach book, I can’t help but share to those who won’t get to see it on my coffee table.  After 5 years of vacationing here, Liz and I have decided that the beach is the place for us one day.

Edisto Island Beach Book

I’ll be working on a book with all my images from Edisto Island, SC.  I’m really excited to start editing these photos when I get some fun time. For now, this was the first image out of the camera and I’m extremely happy with the lighting and composition.  My goal was to shoot something that explained how much we enjoyed our time there.

Family Beach Trip

Finally after 9 years, I was able to go on a family beach trip with my parents. Years of 40 hour work weeks, from 16 on, have led to a much needed vacation. I decided to do an Edisto Island photography book. It will be something similar to a medium print coffee book. While I was working on this project, it was awesome to take some pictures of my growing family with their spouses and my grandmother as well.
